What it means: iCloud v Mobile Me

With the announcement of the axing of mobile me and the introduction of the new platform iCloud theres going to be some issues that crop up, I look into that a little here.

So, following on from the post I made a couple of days ago about the announcements from WWDC and E3 a few of us from the Halo community (more specifically the Customs Community) got together on skype and had a sit down for a somewhat intelligent discussion about the material that we had seen.

Ok i apologise in advanced, this post isn’t going through the usual routine checks that i make because I want to get this down while I still have it all in my head, im going to start with Apples Announcements and then going to cover E3 (well the bits im interested in anyhow)

Apple Made A Liar Out Of Me

Yes that really is the opening line I want to lead with, Apple is not my favorite company but they are from the company I Dislike the most. But im afraid they may have just made me a convert. The announcement of the Ios features coming to the phone were great and things that we all kinda knew were coming we just wanted to see how, The new notification center, improvements to the spell checking, the email, the web browser, i think they effectively rewrote most of their propriety Apps and made them better from what I can see.

‘Windows Baby’ Goes Linux

As a child of the 90’s I grew up using windows, they were reliable, while a little buggy. However a recent system failure has meant that I have started using Linux, a system that I honestly Doubted I would actually find a legitimate use for, that is until now.

Gleeks Unite

Ok I am not ashamed to admit it, I am a complete and total Gleek. I cannot get enough and really do not want the season to end.

In the last couple of episodes the show has really shown its pedigree and i cannot wait for season 3 to start (god I hope we don’t have to wait forever). The penultimate episode was truly a heart wrencher and you know I would completely vote for Sue if I was given the chance. (Yes I am well aware that it is a fantasy character but leave me to my delusions.)

The pure imagination was a beautifully crafted piece that shows exactly where glee really get’s its rocks off. Using the strength of the voices within the group they give such a fantastic and original (to me at least) take on a famous classic that really does the original justice.

Now sure, glee has had its problems, it shot to fame over here in the uk mainly because of its covers of dont stop believing and some other classics. BUT, look at where glee came from and look at where it has gone now and those are two very different points.

Reccomendation: Hugh Laurie – Let Them Talk

What can I say about this album apart from that it has surprised me from start to end, the dynamics of Hughs voice in this album are amazing. He really pulls all the stops out. Mr laurie is definitely for more then the actor that everyone know him for and the comedy that unfortunately many people don’t seem to know, (Hugh In Drag Anyone?)

The Evils of Google

I for a while now have made it clear to people I’m not a fan of Google and for that reason will not invest in the Google platform.

It’s interesting to see people’s reactions to that statement when I tell them in person. It ranges from a simple “Oh” to a “I don’t see why” (usually followed by how great they are) to “I concur” (admittedly it’s more then that but you get the idea)

Today, I lay down my biggest objects to google not only as a company but as a security risk after the jump.

Ok before I start on this topic I want to put a disclaimer out there:

One of the big problems that face major entertainment based companies these days is piracy, now I have heard of many many ways of the industry combating this problem, some good, some really really bad (invasion of privacy sort of bad). While I don’t know much about the industry as a consumer looking at the problem from the outside my solution would be something like the system I’m about to outline

Before going further its key to point out that the principles of this system relies on cloud computing/storage and Digital Rights Management Software (DRM). For those who don’t know much about these I’ll give you the quickest break down here after the jump but if you want to know more Google will be useful.

The royals are having a wedding…

…and the nation collectively went meh.

Now don’t get me wrong, I got my invitation, unfortunately for Kate and Harry I will be… Oh, i dunno, doing the laundry, in fact maybe I’ll be washing my hair. Heck I’ll push the boat out, I’ll be sitting on my arse, on the garden with a brewski in one hand and a kebab in the other.

Seriously, it might be me but the whole thing has gone mad, the bank holiday is nice sure. (I don’t work that day anyway. But yeah)

Apparently at the last royal wedding 3/4 people were celebrating the wedding in some manner or other. Tbh I don’t think that 3/4 people know when the wedding is this time around.

Councils expected to be swamped under requests to close roads so that street parties could occur, but so far the request numbers are at an all time low (the last I heard was 2000 total requests)

But to top it of, now the “souvenir” sets are out and this time they include but are not limited to: china, candles, speciality cheeses (I guess) and condoms (honest to god they exist).

Now, I’m sorry but theres something wrong here, Royal Condoms? So instead of the usual Trojans someone, somewhere wants me to use a condom that is endorsed by the prince and princess to be?

Personally I can’t think of anything worse, last thing I want when I’m “getting happy” is to see their faces looking back at, how off putting is that!

Problem is you know there is someone somewhere going

“oh i say camilla dear let’s celebrate this event in style let us retire up the stair and have intercourse”

“oh let’s Charles darling, make sure you bring the condoms, and do make sure they are the royal ones, the ones with Harry and Kate on the front”

“I shall have Jefferys bring them right at once. [calls butler] jefferys please bring the royal condoms to my room, and please, mind mothers corgis we don’t want you to step on one again, you know that she will behead you if it happens again”
[I’m sorry, had to be done]

You know, there’s one thing worse then Harry and Kate to put you off “the magic”. Camilla! You may not like the royals but you have to admire Charles, he must be In constant fear of having a mafia hit squad turn up at an event when he has to wake up every morning with that horses head next to him in the bed.

And another question, condoms come in sizes, small, average, large etc, do the royal ones? Or are they going to come in the size of Harrys? After all surely that’s person whose gunna use em in reality. (well, to be fair, that depends if it comes in Harrys size, because if it does, I think there would be a number of gay men and straight women interested in just seeing how they compare to there fantasy versions)

Oh dear me, this blog is certainly going down hill, toilet wall writing last post, the royals sex life this post, this isn’t how I envisioned this blog, not at all.

I’m gunna go lock myself in a cupboard now and see if I can find something a little more “sane” to write about.
